It’s officially April 1, which means another year come and gone for the Lemonlight team! When our three co-founders launched Lemonlight back on April 1, 2014, they never imagined we’d be sitting here eight years later, wrapping up another record-breaking year. Let’s take a look back at what Lemonlight accomplish this year and how we’re continuing to elevate our role in the production space. But first, a look back at the very beginning…
If you’re new here, Lemonlight was founded in 2014 as a video production solution for small- to mid-sized businesses (SMBs). At the time, video marketing was mostly focused on commercial production, and the cost of the average 30-second commercial was $342,000. As you can imagine, video production wasn’t accessible to the average business at that price point, and the industry was catering to large corporations. So, Lemonlight set out to challenge that status quo, providing an affordable production process for the SMB market.
Over the last eight years, a lot has changed, but one core commitment remains: we love to provide clients with world-class video content that helps them achieve their marketing goals and level up their businesses. With that in mind, let’s take a look at what we accomplished over the last year and where we’re headed for our 8thanniversary and beyond!
Reflecting on Year Eight
This year, we served a whopping 648 clients with video content aimed at every stage of the marketing funnel. In order to serve those clients, we managed a grand total of 777 video shoots and created 3,560 final videos. If you’re keeping track at home, that’s an average of 5.5 videos per client! We’ve seen that stat continue to go up over the years as our clients realize the true value of their video strategies.
If you’re wondering who’s behind those incredible videos, the answer is an unstoppable team of 72 full-time team members and a network of 1,181 freelancers across the globe. At our HQ in Los Angeles, our full-time team members cover everything from:
- Managing our marketing content to educate our audience on video marketing
- Connecting with prospective clients to guide them through their video goals
- Working with existing clients to book shoots, cast talent, write scripts, scout locations, and bring each production’s tiniest details to life
- Filming and editing hundreds of videos every month for clients in every industry
- Partnering with marketing and ad agencies to empower them to better serve their own clients with video
- Building an industry-first video production platform to manage every step of the production process from start to finish
We’re especially proud of that last bullet point, and we’re thrilled to share that our production platform is currently serving over 50 Lemonlight clients with over 30 different features that facilitate a seamless, enjoyable production process.
The platform is our one-stop-shop for expert video production, and our clients are loving the autonomy they have to move projects forward—and the transparency they’re given into their project status. Plus, it’s always great to have one central place to check for all comments, updates, messages, and action items. We look forward to onboarding even more clients to the platform this year!
Last but not least, we broke all kinds of records during our eighth year. Among the milestones were our best month of website traffic, our best month of sales revenue, the most productions we’ve managed in one month, the most videos we’ve edited in one month, our most expensive production to date, and our favorite celebrity video feature (check out our Yogibo video with Drew Barrymore to see for yourself!). Onward and upward!
Looking Ahead to Year Nine
As we enter our ninth year in business, we can’t wait to see how we’ll continue to grow and evolve in the days, months, and years to come.
